Blog Post Header Reading The Bible

God doesn’t kill .

God cannot kill .

God will not kill .

God will not kill unjustly .

Which is it ?

God doesn’t do evil .

God cannot do evil .

What is evil ?

Some theologians will reply on a first order of thinking level that every killing is evil .

Every destruction is evil .

Calling fire from heaven was evil .

Then we will now end up at universalism .

Just like Bishop Carlton Williams did .

God is good .

God cannot do evil .

Therefore God will not send anyone to hell to be destroyed eternally .

A good and kind God cannot do such evil .

A good and kind God cannot stand to see people anguish in hell forever or destroyed because he can’t do evil .

This is where you will end up when we use our human eyes to define what is good and what is evil .

It is divine good that God wants all saved .

It is also divine good that all who reject Gods salvation will be eternally destroyed . It is divine good and Justice .

2 Peter 2:4-6.
4, For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
5, And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
6, And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;

Gods Justice didn’t spare the angels of Gen 6 .

They are said to have been cast into Tatarus (hell)

God didn’t spare the old world but saved Noah .

He didn’t spare Sodom but saved lot .

All these are motifs .

They point eventually to one end consistent all through scripture.

Through faith man enters life.

Through unbelief man enters destruction.

Now how we explain this is very important.

Some have attempted to explain Sodom and Gomorrah as an environmental disaster (myself included ) stemming from the corruption of the world . In fact I explain Sodom and gommorahs destruction as the fall of a comet from heaven that destroyed the city due to the description of brimstone and sulphuric acid in the scriptural report. However , the issue is how come that comet fell only on two cities ? And it happened to be those two ungodly cities and not others? Can we rule out God in it when Moses clearly attributes to God and Peter didn’t disagree ?

What of Noah’s flood.

While we can explain it as a climate disaster we cannot totally exclude divine involvement because it is stated in scriptures. For 120 years Noah warned the people that a flood was coming . Moses reports that after the years ended that flood came and it was God who shot the door of the ark to keep Noah and his family in and others out .

Peter restates these stories as examples.

There is a destruction coming to the unbeliever.

There is salvation from destruction to the believer.

God is just and good in his decision for either.

My prayer is that God will continually increase our wisdom to be able to systematically present his truth without compromising the scripture.

The weight of responsibility where scripture is concerned is huge.

May no man fail in his responsibility to God in correctly presenting the scriptures without cutting corners.
